New service reminds drivers of license renewal
Iowa licensed drivers can receive an email renewal notification approximately 30 days before their driver’s license is set to expire thanks to a new service.
All drivers are responsible for renewing their driver’s license on time. The license expires on the expiration date printed on the license and is valid for driving for an additional 60 days after expiration. After those 60 days, you may be ticketed for driving with an expired driver’s license.
Persons that hold a nonoperator’s identification card rather than a driver’s license may also sign up for a free email renewal reminder.
The renewal reminder is not the only new, free service the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) is offering.
