A pair of Newton businesses played a role this week in the visit of Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping to Iowa.

On Wednesday evening, during the state dinner in the rotunda of the Iowa Statehouse in Des Moines, beer from Newton’s Madhouse Brewery and cheese products from Maytag Dairy Farm were among the foods served.

About 750 people attended the dinner, which included other “Taste of Iowa” products like bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin and beef tenderloin.

Rep. Dan Kelley discusses the visit in his weekly column Kelley @ the Capitol (page 4A).
“Clearly, we produce world-class food and beverages in Jasper County,” he wrote.

Anyone who supports China in anyway should be treated like the people of China by its leaders. Its just sick to see people here sell out human rights for a buck. Only in the good ol USA.Sleep well all you greedy smucks.
